Emergency food assistance for Chad and Central African Republic

On July 5th, the Government of Japan decided to grant funding totaling $68 million to 30 countries, including Chad and Central African Republic, in response to the deteriorating global food security impacted by the situation in Ukraine.
 
Through the World Food Program (WFP), this funding will be used to provide emergency food assistance to 3 Middle Eastern countries and 27 African countries according to their respective needs.
 
In Chad, the allocated budget of $ 2.5 million will provide emergency food assistance to 15,000 refugees, internally displaced persons, and returnees. More to that, school meals will be provided to 40,000 children.
 
In Central African Republic, a $ 1 million budget will provide food assistance to 13,000 people facing severe food insecurity, in order to ensure them with essential food and nutrition.
 
Other food assistance intended for Chad and Central African Republic, where the food situations are severe, will also be granted, 150 million yen and 200 million yen respectively, as signed on July 8th.
