Bilateral Relations

Diplomatic Relations between Japan and Cameroon were established on 1 January 1960, as Japan recognized Cameroon. Cameroon opened its Embassy in Tokyo in January 1988, and the Embassy of Japan in Yaounde was opened in January 1991.

  Following the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan the Central African Republic on the 13th of August 1960, the Embassy of the Central African Republic was opened in Japan in June 1968 and the Japanese Embassy in Bangui in January 1974. The Embassy in Central African Republic was closed in 1992, and the Embassy of Japan in Cameroon covers the Central African Republic since 2005.

  Japan recognized Chad on 11 August 1960, and the Ambassador of Japan in Cameroon got accredited to the Government of the Republic of Chad since 1996.
