Handover Ceremony of the Emergency Grant Aid “Support for Cold Chain Development in response to Covid-19 pandemic”

 On August 25, 2023, in the presence of the Public Health Minister H.E. Manaouda Malachie and UNICEF Cameroon Representative Ms. Nadine Perrault, Ambassador Takaoka attended the Handover Ceremony for the refrigerated truck donated by Japan at the EPI (Expanded Programme of Immunization) Office in Yaoundé.
 This Emergency Grant Aid Project “Support for Cold Chain Development in response to Covid-19 pandemic” implemented in collaboration with UNICEF Cameroon, aims to strengthen the capacity of medical service and delivery and to achieve universal health coverage in Cameroon. With the grant of approximately one (01) million USD, the Cameroonian Government had previously received medical equipment such as 80 vaccine storage refrigerators, 4000 vaccine storage containers, as well as training programmes for medical staff and government authorities, all of which were utilized during the pandemic. The newly arrived refrigerated truck, as well as these medical equipment can also be used for the storage and transportation for vaccines for other infectious diseases, in addition to Covid-19.
