The Launching Ceremony for the Japan-funded project with UN Women Cameroon

 The launching ceremonies for the Japan-funded emergency assistance for IDP women were held on 22nd and 27th November, in Babadjou and in Yaounde, respectively. Japan provided funds worth approximately 1 million USD for this project under the 2022 Supplementary Budget. It aims at contributing to the empowerment of IDP women through the provision of emergency goods and capacity development activities.
 At the ceremony on 27th in Yaounde, Her Excellency Abena Ondoa, Minister of Women’s Empowerment and the Family, Ms. Raky Chaupin, Resident Representative of UN Women Cameroon, and Ms. Giselle Tsangue, Mayor of Babadjou visited the event venue. In his speech, Ambassador TAKAOKA said that Japan has been a major donor to UN Women for many years with the aim of promoting gender-equality and the prevention of gender-based violence. Ms. Raky Chaupin expressed her gratitude stating that Japan’s contribution has greatly contributed to the economic empowerment of crisis-affected women. Also, Mrs. Tsangue shared that emergency relief goods were officially handed over to the beneficiaries at the ceremony held on 22nd in Babadjou, in the presence of Mr. Gregory Gatsing, the representative of the Governor of the West Region.
