Handover ceremony for Economic and Social Development Programme for the promotion of Fishery Sector

On 6 September 2024, Chargé d'Affaires a.i., Mr. AOKI, attended a handover ceremony for the Economic and Social Development Programme for the promotion of Fishery Sector (Grant Assistance FY2020), held in Kribi. A total of 100 million yen was contributed to this project. Two ice machines, a pick-up truck, a generator and 35 outboard motors were provided to the Ministry of Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Industries with the aim to promote the fisheries industry.
At the ceremony, the outboard motors were tested by local fishermen. We were able to see first-hand the beneficiaries express their gratitude.
Japan regards the fisheries sector as one of the priority areas for economic cooperation with Cameroon, along with the agricultural sector. Japan will continue to promote cooperation with Cameroon through providing assistance in these areas.
