Signing ceremony
On 23rd January 2025, H.E. Mr. MINAMI Kentaro, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary
of Japan to the Republic of Cameroon and Mr. Gianluca FERRERA, Representative and Country Director of WFP Cameroon, signed the Exchange of Note for the Food Assistance Grant Project (FY2024) for Cameroon.
This project, providing food assistance worth 200 million yen (1.4 million USD), will target 17,000 vulnerable people, including refugees and internally displaced persons affected by natural disaster, contributing to the improvement of food security. In Cameroon, approximately 3 million people, or 11% of the population, are said to be facing a serious food crisis. This cooperation will materialise Japan's efforts to respond to the food crisis and support sustainable agricultural production, as announced at the 8th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 8).
