On Saturday, 7 February 2026, the Cameroon Baseball and Softball Federation organized a friendly baseball  match. Kenya Uehara, Japan's Chargé d'Affaires ad interim in Cameroon, and John Robinson, the United States' Chargé d'Affaires ad interim, participated in the event. In a country where baseball is relatively unknown, players from Japan and the United States, two nations passionate about the sport, formed teams to compete against a Cameroonian Team.

The match took place at the Olembe Stadium in Yaoundé in the presence of Mr. YOMBA Vincent de Paul, President of the Cameroon Baseball and Softball Federation, and many people, including children and women.  The match ended with a 13-7 victory for the Cameroonian team.

During the closing ceremony, the Fair Play Award trophy and medals bearing the match logo were presented to the Cameroonian team. In his speech, Mr Uehara emphasized that since baseball was introduced to Japan by the United States in the 19th century, Japan has developed its own baseball culture, integrating it into education, and today the sport is enjoyed by all generations. He expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to participate in a fair play baseball match alongside the United States and the Cameroonian team. He also expressed his hope that baseball would contribute to the social development of Cameroon.
