On Monday, 31 August, Ambassador MINAMI Kentaro received two JICA short-term volunteers for a courtesy call upon the completion of their assignments in Cameroon.

Working in the field of youth activities, one of the volunteers conducted recreational activities at an NGO and led gymnastics sessions in Yaoundé. The other worked with a local organization engaged in inclusive education and participated in a JICA workshop on inclusive agroforestry.

The two volunteers shared that, despite their stay of only about one month, they had learned a great deal through their interactions with people in Cameroon. They also had opportunities to introduce Japanese culture, including through their participation in the Otaku Festival.

Ambassador MINAMI commended them for their commitment and encouraged them, upon their return to Japan, to share their experiences and the many attractions of Cameroon, which are still not widely known in Japan, particularly with younger generations, and to continue serving as bridges between our two countries.

We hope their experience in Cameroon will help create new connections between Japan and Cameroon.
